Wisdom Teeth in Townsville

Don’t Let Impacted Wisdom Teeth Affect Your Dental Health

At Casey Dental we can help with the safe and comfortable removal of your problem wisdom teeth.

Wisdom Teeth Removal in TownsvilleOur teenage years see the development and eruption of the often troublesome wisdom teeth. Many people can retain their third molars throughout life, however there is a high chance that you may suffer some problems associated with your wisdom teeth.

Wisdom teeth are the last tooth series to appear in the mouth and often have insufficient space to take their proper position in the mouth. An impacted wisdom tooth can decay, damage adjacent teeth and infect the gums and surrounding bone.  This can be very painfull. Some can develop cysts, whilest others may contribute to movement of your lower teeth.

At Casey Dentists an OPG (panoramic film) is mandatory for diagnosis and a plan can then be developed to manage your wisdom teeth. Treatments can be designated into non surgical and surgical management.

Non surgical management involves maintaining your third molars. This requires close review of your condition with a special emphasis on keeping them as clean as possible. Our Oral Health Therapist (OHT) Kelly O’Toole will work with you to try and manage your wisdom teeth.

Surgical management of problematic wisdom teeth involves removal of the offending teeth, most often completed under General Anaesthesia at Casey Dentists.   Yes, right here in our surgery in Townsville we painlessly manage the safe and complete removal of your wisdom teeth.   Our resident specialist anaethetist Dr Brett Segal will manage your anaesthesia whilst Dr Casey see’s to the removal of your wisdom teeth.

Dr Casey also performs routine third molar removal at the Mater hospital every month in Townsville.
